HARRIS, NANNEY, RAY posted by John Pluge on Monday, January 7, 2008

I am searching for the parents and any siblings of my gg grandfather, Andrew T. (or J.?) Nanney. He reported being born in TN and being 27 in the 1850 Dallas Co., TX census. He married Susanna "Susan" Ray in Macoupin Co. 13 Ja 1842. She was born in IL on 6 Ap 1825, the daughter of Robert Ray (b. 1805 NC) and Mary Denton Ray (b. 1799 KY). They married 5 Ap 1823 in Madison Co., IL. Andrew & Susan had 2 sons in IL and 3 more children after migrating to TX in 1847. Her parents also migrated to TX with them. Andrew & Susan both died during the 1850s, leaving 4 of their children to the care of Robert & Mary by 1860. Benjamin W. Nanney (b. 18 N 1824 White Co., TN) married Amanda Harris in Macoupin Co. on 5 D 1843. He reportedly died Mr 1850. He was from a well documented family that was in TN from the early 1820s until at least the mid 1830s. His parents, William Nanney and Ruth Harris, and siblings were in Fayette Co., IL by at least 1837 until the 1850s. Many of her Harris relatives are documented in Macoupin Co. during the 1840s. This is the only early Illinois Nanney family that I have been able to locate. I believe that my first mentioned relative must have been somehow linked to this family. I would appreciate any supporting or contradicting data.

ROBERTSON posted by Delene on Monday, June 1, 2009

Charlie Robertson is my grandpa, I know where he is buried. Almost all of g-grandpa Hudson's siblings are buried here in Wayne Co. Also Hudson's mother and father, David and Rebecca are also. Hudson's possible lst wife, Nancy Shannon had two children, I know of. Thomas, b.1855 and Hannah L. b.1858/60 mar.1881 d.1893 bur. Four Mile, Wayne Co. Il. All I know of Thomas Robertson is his birth year l855. The Robertson family stayed pretty much together as they traveled back and forth from Macoupin Co. to Wayne and Jefferson Co. in So. Illinois. Hudson has been found with a couple of names. Robertson is correct, that is on some of the marriage lisence and his tombstone. On the l881 plat here his widow is spelled Robinson. On a muster list for Hudson it is spelled Robison. You see why I have to look at all spellings when I research. I don't know where Nancy is buried but I haven't done much here. There is a lot of stones missing or empty spaces between David and Hudson and the cem. is very old David d. l872, Hudson d. l873. Hudson had a 2nd wife, Tabitha, who is my g-grandma, Charlies mother.

ANDREWS, PRICE, VANCIL posted by Pamela Goess on Monday, June 1, 2009

Searching information about David M. Andrews, I found a few records listing him as an inmate at the Macoupin Almshouse. So it seems Charles and Edgar's father did not die as the family has always thought. The records I found were the 1920 and 1930 Census. I did find a David Andrews living in Virden on the 1900 Census. He is listed as head of household but no others are listed with him. Other than David and Hattie's marriage and Charles' birth, I can find nothing further on Hattie Price Andrews and what happened to her. David's parents, William W. Andrews and Susanna Vancil have presented me with yet another mystery. I have found only one record for William and that was the 1840 Census listing him in Virden. After that nothing. Susanna or sometimes Susan is on the other census records in Virden but the strange thing is that more children are added and there is no male head of the house listed. What a strange family I have!

GRAY posted by Christian Edwards on Monday, June 1, 2009

My great, great grandparents were James Henry Gray and Nancy Elizabeth Clark. I show that they had five children; Truman, Jessie, James Herman, William Spairman, Willis Eman and Lewis (Louis). I am looking for death records on James Henry and Nancy Elizabeth. I am hoping to find their parents names from the death records. I found an online index that lists these names with the following death dates: James Henry Gray - 11 Mar 1909 Nancy Gray - 26 Sept 1907 I am also searching for information on their son Truman Gray and his family. I find him in the 1900 census married to an Emma with three children. I cannot find any marriage information on this couple. I also can not find any of the family in any future census records so I am curious if something happened to the entire family. I am at a loss. I did find a Truman Gray on the same online death index but the age is very young, perhaps a child. The death date is noted as 9 Aug 1902. I am unable to find any additional information on their daughter Jessie Gray either. I have searched marriage and death indexes and can find nothing. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Christian Edwards, Tomball, Texas

ANDERSON, FITZPATRICK, HUTTON, RAMEY posted by Edith Anderson on Thursday, June 4, 2009

My father was John Harbird Anderson of University City, MO and Carlinville, IL (until he was 17). His sister is Helen Virginia ("Alice") Anderson Brock also of Carlinville. Their father was John K. Anderson b. 1877 to a Male Anderson and Virginia M. Ramey Anderson b. 1842 in Carlinville, IL. I have attached a census page from 1880 (I couldn't open this file. gf) that shows Mary Ramey Anderson as widowed head of household, along with her brother, Joseph and my 3 yo grandfather along with his 3 siblings. I have spent, and other relatives, too, several years trying to locate the husband of Virginia M. Ramey/father of my grandfather John K(imball) Anderson. Can you give me any help at all? Other relatives of mine in Carlinville on my father's (John Harbird Anderson) were Georgia and Betty Burroughs of 302 Minton, Charles Burroughs and other Burroughs, and many Cherrys. Reputedly our uncle George Cherry was a drummer for Gen Sherman in his march from Atlanta to the sea (who knows?). Maternal relatives are from Gillespie. My mother was Edith Margaret Hutton Anderson and her parents were Charles and Lula (Fitzpatrick) Hutton. I did find a James B. Anderson who mustered out of the army in 1877 and returned to Tennessee. Coincidentally, Tennessee is where Mary Ramey Anderson's husband was from. Thanks for considering this inquiry. Edith Anderson 1606 E. 50th Place, 2A Chicago, IL 60615

The only child I have dates is Albert Howard Morris born in 1911, in Iowa, and died approx.1992 in Sawyersville. We know Albert H. had 5 siblings Kristina, Steve, Elmer, Carl and Walter. Kristina, the eldest sibling. became a school teacher in Wilsonville. Their parents were Stephan and Anna. Anna b.1886, died in this Illinois area in 1933. I know much more about these parents from sources in Europe. Albert served on the Board of Education, in Benld. He worked in the Sawyerville mines, as his father did before him. Albert Howard Morris became a state mine inspector in 1948 and also served on the mine rescue team until his retirement in 1975. Albert's wife received her degree from Millikin and became a teacher (I do not know her given or maiden names). HACKMANN, JANSEN, JANSSEN, JOHNSON posted by Mary M. Johnson on Monday, August 2, 2010

My great-uncle was Harm Johnson (janssen, jansen, etc); from his obit he grew to manhood in Mt. Olive; but I cannot find him in the census of the area, (I have ancestry.com and cannot find him); or his family; He married Mary Hackmann from Alahambra. She had 4-5 sisters, but I donít find them either. I believe her father was Henry Hackman(n). From a 1914 Farmerís Almanac from Christian Co., it indicates they came to Christian Co in 1878; but they came to the US in 1862-65; so I was thinking they must have settled somewhere in the Mt. Olive area first, then moved to Christian Co. But I cannot prove that. He was married around 1886.

I am looking for the family history "Point of Entry into the United States" of John Wesley Johnson. He was born on or about 1819, died Feb 4 or 5, 1865. He was married to Missouri Ann Johnson (Maiden: Smith) who died in 1902. Both are buried at the Mt. Pleasant/Piasa cemetery in Piasa, IL along with Children Emily, Samuel, Joseph A., and his wife Alice. John Wesley Johnson is my direct Great, Great Grandfather. Joseph A. Johnson is my Great Grandfather. I am deeply grateful for any information or leads available. Thank You. Frank J. Johnson

I am trying to reach Deloris Deann Summers who posted an obit for Michael Koenig on your website. I believe that Michael Koenig is the brother of my great grandmother Clara Koenig Johnson. I am hoping that Ms. Summers can fill in some blanks for me.

WEISS posted by Kim Kolk on Sunday, August 29, 2010

I am looking for information on Bertie B WEISS, b ca 1872. She is listed on the 1880 Census in Brighton Townships as the 8 year old daughter of Henry and Catherine WEISS. Emma Jane WEISS appears on the same census as a 15 year old daughter. However, Emma Jane's obit states she was the youngest child of Henry and Catherine. Any info on Bertie would be appreciated!
