Staunton's Historic Preservation
On Saturday morning, April 30, 2005, several members
of Staunton's Historic Preservation Commission and the Macoupin County
Genealogical Society gathered at Staunton Public Library to put together
a display (click on "display"
to see picture) of mining memorabilia from Staunton area mines.
This display is in celebration of Preservation Month. The ultimate hope
is that citizens with ties to the mining industry in Staunton will provide
us with more items and stories, and join our efforts to create a Staunton
Museum.
In future months, we hope to put together other historical displays to
share our rich history with our citizens. Do you have anything to contribute?
