2 foot rock Wall around 3 graves. Mr. Lavora (owner of the land) is to remove wall and plow over the graves. Infested with groundhog.

The Boring Cemetery is the name given to the burial place of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Eusminger and a small child. Mr. and Mrs. Eusminger were the parents of Mrs. Benson Boring and at the time of their death, some 90 years ago, were buried on the land which was owned by Benson Boring. The small child, however, was the daughter of some people who had camped near there and upon her death was buried on this plot of ground. Just when this burial plot was laid out is not known as there are no dates on the stone wall which encloses these graves and it is not known which of the three died first. This cemetery is not fenced in except for the two foot wall that encloses the graves, but a slight reserve of a few feet is made on each side of the tomb and uncultivated. The Eusmingers are the great-grandparents of Denby Boring, the present Mayor of the City of Carlinville.

Land records of Macoupin County have been searched for a deed to the burial grounds but none can be found. There is no exception made to the cemetery in the transfers of the land in which the cemetery is located.

The only description that we can give of the Boring Cemetery is that made by the fieldman of the graves enclosed by a stone wall and the uncultivated portion around the burial grounds.

A small plot of ground out of the W. 1/2 of the NW 1/4 of Section 17, T. 10 N. R. 6, West of the Third Principal Meridian and measures: Commencing 40 rods north of the farm house owned by Jake Lavora, at which point one reached the tomb, running from thence North 13 feet; thence West 9 feet; thence South 13 feet; thence East 9 feet to the place of beginning. At the present time the uncultivated portion measures 20 feet on the North and South sides and 30 feet on the East and West sides, situated in the County of Macoupin and State of Illinois.

There are no trustees to the Boring Cemetery and it is not incorporated.

These graves appear to be in good condition. The wall around them is made of stone. Ground-hogs have infested this burial grounds and leave the base of the tomb in a morbid condition. There is one fir tree, 2 persimmon trees and a lilac bush on the uncultivated part.

*The present owner of the land is going to remove the wall from around the graves and plow the land over.

To reach the Boring Cemetery one travels 4 miles East of Carlinville on a rocked-road to the North Western Railroad, then turn to the left before crossing the railroad and go north 1/4 mile to the house occupied by Mr. Drew, there one gains permission to cross the land to the cemetery.

There are no soldiers buried in the Boring Cemetery.

We cannot give the date of the earliest grave in this cemetery since there are no dates inscribed on the stone wall. We are told that either Mr. or Mrs. Eusminger died about 90 years ago.
