Located in the SE1/4 of NE1/4 Sec.20, 4 mi NW of Hettick
ASBURY CEMETERY aka ASBURY MOUND a large cemetery located at one time around the Asbury Methodist Church. The church is now gone, but the cemetery is being maintained after a few years of neglect. BENJAMIN KIDD and his wife HANNAH, in 1849, deeded 3/4 acres for the church. In 1854 additional land was deeded for the cemetery. Oldest grave is that of ELVIRA, wife of JOSEPH B. STEIDLEY, who died 7 Mar 1849. Located in the SE1/4 of NE1/4
Directions from Carla Mills Section 20, Barr twp, Macoupin county, IL (near where Barr Store used to be, 4mi nw of Hettick) (OR 1500 East at 25750 North, for those who understand the system
Directions, from the north: at Greenfield town square, go right (West Main) until hit the blacktop, turn left on Barr Road, take through Barr (ignore the first Asbury Road) to Quail Road, turn left, turn right on Washington School (2250 E/ 26500N. OR can get to Asbury by following Chestnut out of Greenfield until reach Washington School Road, where turn left. The second method is much easier than trying to find the cemetery by block numbers)
