Excerpted from a letter written by Littleton Bradley, dated 15 July 2002, to the Macoupin County Genealogical Society, referring to the donation of his surname files to MCGS:
"I am pleased that you are interested in having this data, most of which was prepared while I was a resident of the St. Louis area and an employee for 33 years of the McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company (now part of Boeing). I was born in, grew up in, and went to school in Virden, Illinois. A small portion of the data involves Sangamon County, which adjoins Macoupin on the North. It is hard to realize that over the years, I have done so much surname searching, in addition to publishing several books and papers. I like to think that I have helped some families in their search for information about their ancestors."
